			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Day 1 &#8211; Saturday, August 22.  I really enjoyed the walk-run idea.  I never felt like I was going to die.  Also, the early morning was beautiful and the trail was very friendly&#8230; lots of dog-walkers to say, &#8220;Good Morning!&#8221; to.  My shoes are too small.  My toes were shoved right up in the end.  I&#8217;ll have to sort out the shoe situation before I can continue.</p>
<p>Day 2 &#8211; Sunday, August 23.  Another morning run.  The new shoes are much better and I really enjoyed myself again.  I went home and checked out some learn-to-run tips on the web.  My favourite quote was, &#8220;Start slow, and taper.&#8221;  I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;ll think about that advice often as I keep running.</p>
<p>Day 3 &#8211; Tuesday, August 25.  Got up early so that I could run before Richard left for work so he&#8217;d be here with the kids.  Pretty proud of myself for doing that.  The socks I was wearing slipped down inside my shoes and I kept getting grit from the trail in my shoes.  I&#8217;ll have to sort out the sock situation.</p>
<p>Day 4 &#8211; Wednesday, August 26.  I actually want to run every day.  All of the tips I&#8217;ve read say that I need to give myself some down days so I don&#8217;t injure myself, but I&#8217;m only walk/running 14 min each day so I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;m in much danger of killing myself.  I&#8217;ll take the day off tomorrow since I&#8217;ve got pilates in the evening anyway.  I tried running in the evening today.  I&#8217;m not sure if it was the time of day but the following crappy things happened: 1. I had to run around/through swarms of tiny bugs.  2.  I got a cramp.  3.  I had to pee.    The new socks stayed up and the rocks stayed out, but they made my feet feel a bit hot.  I like the idea of buying myself a little running present at the end of a week of sticking to the plan.  If I make it to the end of week 2, I&#8217;m going to buy myself a quick-dry top &#8211; the cotton tank-tops I&#8217;ve been wearing are rubbing a bit under my arms.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve tried before to start running, but I&#8217;ve never stuck with it.  I think the major problem was that I tried to start by running with people who already knew how to run.  I couldn&#8217;t keep up, I got frustrated and I quit.  Here&#8217;s why I&#8217;m hoping this time will be different:<br />
1.  I&#8217;m tired of feeling fat.  I never felt that way before I had kids, but it does a number on your body&#8230; I&#8217;m sure approaching 40 doesn&#8217;t help either.  I want a runner&#8217;s body.<br />
2.  I&#8217;m going to try to start running on my own.  Because of the aforementioned children, I am rarely on my own and I think the quiet time will be an added bonus.  Also, I don&#8217;t have to try to keep up with anyone.  Hopefully, the frustration I have felt on previous attempts at running will be lessened.<br />
3.  I&#8217;m going to try a walk-run program to get me started.  Hopefully this will build my fitness up gradually and I won&#8217;t hate it as much. (I&#8217;m pretty sure I&#8217;ll still hate it!)<br />
Anyway, here I go!  Wish me luck.</p>
